Description
A commemorative certificate honoring the maiden voyage of the SS Normandie, a French-built ocean liner that was the fastest passenger ship of its day. During World War II the ship was seized by U.S. authorities and repurposed into the USS Lafayette, but caught fire in 1942 and sunk in the Hudson River before seeing any action. The certificate is 1p. 4to., New York, June 12, 1935, stating that William G. Meek was a passenger aboard the inaugural voyage from New York To Le Harve. A few scattered stains, else fine.
