MISSINGAncient Near East, Sassanian (Sasanian, Sassanid) Empire, ca. 3rd to 6th century CE. A beautiful cup formed from translucent glass of a deep forest-green hue. The vessel is defined by a small base, a hemispherical body, a deep basin, and a thick rim. The exterior of the body is adorned with dozens of deep-cut facets that imbue the vessel with an elegant presentation evocative of the ancient Near East. Size: 4" W x 3" H (10.2 cm x 7.6 cm).
Provenance: private East Coast collection, New York, USA; ex-East Coast collection, New York Gallery, New York City, New York, USA, acquired before 2010

Condition
Repaired from multiple pieces, with light restoration in some areas of loss, and light adhesive residue along break lines. Minor abrasions and nicks to base, body, and rim, with micro-bubbling within the glass matrix, and light pitting. Light earthen deposits throughout.
