CARTE DE VISITES CDV CIVIL WAR GENERALS NOTABLE FIGURES
Lot of five carte de visite images of notable figures from the Civil War era, to include:
- General McClellan (1826-1885), by Silsbee, Case & Co. of Boston. Fought in Mexican-American war, Commander of Army of the Potomac in 1861, fired by Lincoln in 1862.
- General Nathaniel Lyon by Philadelphia Photographic Co. Served in Seminole and Mexican-American wars; Kansas and Missouri in 1850's. KIA at Wilson's Creek, MO in 1861.
- Unknown Major, by Addis of Washington D.C.
- General John Foster (1823-1874), wounded in war with Mexico, surrendered at Fort Sumter, Division Commander of Army of the Potomac, Commander of Army of the Ohio, and Commander of the Department of South.
- General George G. Meade (1815-1872) by N.Y. Photo Co. Served in Mexico-American war, led Penn. Brigade in 1861 in Army of the Potomac, led division in 1862 and V Corps, Commander of the Army of the Potomac in 1863.
Condition
Very good, some wear and foxing.
