Gilt bronze Hoguet a Paris wall clock, c1790/1840
Height: 21", 18" across. The visible face is 9" acros
Davids notes: A really magnificent wall clock in the shape of a large pocket watch, but the esteemed firm of Hoguet, Paris, circa 1750 to 1835.The front has outstanding gilt bronze lion head and leaf and berry detail, all hand chiseled by French engravers of the period. The back of the clock appears to be rusted but the levers move that hold the back plate. The movement we photographed. There is a pendulum. We do not know if this is the original movement. We do not know if the movement works. We do not know if there are parts missing in the clock movement. Sold: As-is. Hoguet clocks are in the collection of French 18th century clocks in the Getty Museum in Los Angeles.
