Description
"The Pendragon. The Glorious Life and Death of Arthur, King of Britain, Recounted by Bedivere, His Friend Since Boyhood, His Fellow Knight and Companion-in-arms" by Catherine Christian, published by Alfred Knopf, New York, First American Edition, First Printing with Knopf's Borzoi logo and '1979' on the title page, stated "First American Edition" on the copyright page. [Knopf marked only the copies of the first printing 'First Edition'].
One of the best of the Arthurian historical oriented novels really well written. The Pendragon is King Arthur and this is the story of his reign as told by Bedivere, Arthur's boyhood companion and comrade-in-arms who witnesses everything, from the unsheathing of Excalibur to the dissolution of the Round Table.
Original un-clipped dust jacket with the original price on the front flap is a little stressed at the edges, vellum paper hard boards, decorated front board, brown cloth spine with gold lettering; 6.1/2" x 9.1/2"; endpapers are maps, former owner blind stamp [Sarah Hollars] on the front ep and half-title page; ink written name and "2/12/81" on the half-title page, small red stamp on the bottom edge of the pages [bookstore marking for sold books]; 462 pages, very good condition. There is a touching 2-page ink written love letter addressed to Diana found in the book [comes with the book].
