xx, 548 pp. With large folding map of the route: 64x73 cm (25¼x28¾"). (4to) 29.5x23 cm (11¾x9"), rebound in modern brown leather with original elaborate gilt ornamentation of the Royal Arms laid down on both covers, modern leather lettering pieces, all edges gilt, fresh endpapers. First Edition.

Work by Scottish travel writer Fraser, chronicling travels in India and an attempt to find the sources of the Ganges and Yamuna Rivers. Original cover swatches bear the royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom with its motto Deiu et mon Droit / God and my Right.

Condition

Top lettering piece lifting, some chips around edges of original cover swatch; some dampstains and light foxing to leaves; foxing to map with a few creases and slightly tattered edges, small discolored patches indicating a bit of discrete repair; very good overall.
