Description
Robert Laessig (American, 1913Ć¢ā¬ā2010): A watercolor seascape of "The Lobster Pot" probably on the British Coast with stone buildings, signed lower right recto. Height 11 inches (28 cm.) X width 15 inches (38 cm.). Together with a woodcut on satin of a snow covered group of buildings illegibly inscribed in pencil in the margin and illegibly signed in pencil to lower right corner recto. NOTE: Laessig is best known for his floral paintings, prints, and greeting card illustrations, eventually taking over the American Greetings Company, the worldĆ¢ā¬ā¢s largest greeting card corporation. During his time there, he famously designed the White House Christmas card throughout the 1960s. PROVENANCE: From a estate Patchogue NY collection.
