Ramesside Period, circa 1292 – 1069 BC.A beautiful high karat gold swivel ring with a steatite scarab from Ancient Egypt. The ring is centred by a longitudinally pierced scarab, set within a gold frame and with features, such as the clypeus and prothorax, marked by single lines. On the reverse, is depicted a Falcon, symbolising Horus, wearing the crown of Upper and Lower Egypt. The ring possibly of a later period, 22kt gold ring.Size: D: 19.3mm / US: 9 3/8 / UK: S 1/2; 5.94gProvenance: Central London private collection of Ancient Art and jewellery; acquired since the 1970s on the UK and European art markets.
