A SILVER BUTTER TEA SET
Tibetan-Chinese, 19th century. A silver stand with a lobed saucer atop and a magnificent silver cup engraved with a phoenix and a dragon. The four-level tiered cover embossed and engraved with auspicious symbols surmounted by a turquoise-colored bead.

The retailer mark reads: KL/KAM LUNG 甘隆 [GAN LONG in Mandarin] HONG KONG
The artisan workshop marks reads: SEN 森 of Canton

Condition: The silver shows surface wear, dents, and warping. The turquoise-colored sphere has been reattached.
Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
