Group (3) of 18th Century Books: 1. FORTIS, ALBERTO. Travels Into Dalmatia; Containing General Observations on the Natural History of that Country and the Neighbouring Islands; the Natural Productions, Arts, Manners and Customs of the Inhabitants: In a Series of Letters from Abbe Alberto Fortis, to the Earl of Bute, The Bishop of Londonderry, Joh Strange, Esq. &c. &c. to Which are Added by the Same Author, Observations on the Island of Cherso and Osero. Translated from the Italian Under the Author's Inspection. Wih and Appendix, and Other Considerable Additions, Never Before Printed. Illustrated with Twenty Copper Plates. London: Printed for J. Robson, 1778. With a dedication to the Earl of Bute. 4to (10 1/2 x 8 3/4 in.). Marbled calf, elaborate gilt-stamped spine with red gilt label. A fold-out map after the table of contents; at least 17 engraved illustrations of scenes, natural history, people/costumes, most of them fold-out. Good. Covers/spine appear to have been detached and repaired, corners significantly bumped and with leather loss; spine is worn with a few possible wormholes; scratches and rubbing. Pastedown bears the bookplate of James Phelp, Esq., and an ink inscription and tipped-in bookseller note on free endpaper. Foxing and toning to endpapers and first and last few pages, but otherwise mostly clean. 2. WRIGHT, EDWARD. Some Observations Made in Travelling Through France, Italy, &c. In the Years 1721-1722. London: Printed for A. Millar, 1764. Second Edition. Two volumes in one. 4to (10 5/8 x 8 3/4 in.). With numerous engraved illustrations, including one fold-out. Full calf with gilt borders on covers and inside, five gilt raised bands, gilt-stamped decoration, black morocco gilt label, marbled endpapers, all edges marbled. Fair-Good. Covers are nearly detached, all over wear, scratches; leather losses to spine and corners; marbled edges faded. Old inscription at top of title page, light toning/foxing. 3. DE NOAILLES. Ritual Parisiense, Autoritate Eminentissimi D. D. Cardinalis de Noailles, Archiepiscopi Parisiensis, editum, AC Jussu Illustrissimi et Reverendissimi D. D. De Beaumont... Paris: Apud Cl. Simon, Serenissimorum Principum Condaei, Ducis Borbonii, necnon Illustrissimi D. D. Archiepiscopi, 1777. Latin and French. 4to (10 1/4 x 8 in.). Mottled calf, five raised bands, gilt-stamped decoration, and red gilt label to spine; all edges red toned, marbled endpapers. Fair. Slight toning/foxing, some dampstaining to top of pages, pages slightly warped, wear and scratches, leather losses to spine and corners, previous owner's bookplate on pastedown, inscription on flyleaf.
