Description
**Originally Listed At $200**
Northwestern Europe, The Netherlands, ca. 19th century CE. A fine example of a wooden duck decoy for hunting. The waterfowl is hand carved and painted with black, white, and red details to give is a lifelike presentation. One wing is carved in relief and slants across the rest of the body. The head is turned to one side as if in attention, and his eyes are painted with red and black pupils. An enticing and naturalistic rendering to encourage unsuspecting birds to join him on the pond, and once the real birds were settled, they were quite literally "sitting ducks" for the hunter.
