Description
Vintage three-compartment Dresden style porcelain platter, genuine cobalt blue glaze, gold and transfer floral decorations, mark "Ilmenau, Graf von Henneberg Porzellan 1777, East Germany" and "Echt cobalt" [genuine cobalt], handwritten production mark and date 1986.
The platter is c. 9.1/2" x 9.1/2" [24.2cm], the compartments are c.1.1/4" [3.2cm] deep; the entire high including handle is 3" [7.7cm]; no cracks, no hairlines, fine condition.
The Graf von Henneberg porcelain factory was founded in Ilmenau, Thuringia by Christian Zacharias Grabner in 1777. From 1808 to 1871 the factory was known as Nonne and Roesch. After the end of the WWII, under the East German communist rule, it was nationalized. Since the German Unification in 1990, the company is an independent private porcelain manufacture.
