Two page slave bill of sale dated 1835 from Decatur, Georgia (near Atlanta). Three slaves are named: James, Nancy and their 10-year old daughter, Chloe. Extremely detailed writing.
The owner of these slaves, Charles J. Compton, died in Florida and it seems there was some question as to who would inherit them. They are defined as “slaves for life.” Docketing is Southern Circuit of Georgia, Decatur Superior Court.
