Description
Four-page last will and testament, dated 1836, written by Barrett Turner of Madison County, Kentucky. In it, Turner outlines detailed instructions as to how his estate should be managed after his death. He writes that he has five infant children, and makes various provisions providing for their general welfare. Turner states his desire that his slaves not be hired out, and that his "trusty" slave Sam "not be abused or sold." He does, however, allow his executors to sell any of his other slaves if they "misbehave."
