Description
Sir Henry George "Harry" Rushbury KCVO CBE RA (British, 1889 - 1968). A 1924 graphite on paper drawing depicting a city view of 19th century Edinburgh, Scotland. Signed and dated 1924 by the artist on the face of the image.
Dimensions are: sight size - 11 1/2“ tall X 13“ wide, while the frame measures 17 5/8“ tall X 19 1/4“ wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: No noted damage.
Provenance: From a private VA collection. Rushbury studied at the Birmingham School of Art and then moved to London, where he eventually became an official war artist during World War I and World War II. Subsequently, he was elected Keeper of the Royal Academy and Head of the Royal Academy Schools. A collection of his work is currently housed at the Tate Gallery in London.
