A very old and well used hand hammered iron bell or gong with carved wooden ancestor head and signs of use over many years. The Gong measures 23 inches tall and will include a simple wooden base. Bamun peoples, Cameroon Grasslands, West Africa. Provenance: Moses Asche, Founder of Folkways records and owner of one of the great Ethnographic music collections in the world, ca 1950's.
