Description
Chinese Ming / Qing Sancai Glazed Ceramic Horse with saddle possibly a Roof-Tile. Height 9 1/2 inches (24 cm.) X width 13 1/4 inches (33.5 cm.). PROVENANCE: Estate of Paul W. Doll, Jr. (1926-2020), Toxaway, North Carolina; formerly a New York Stockbroker, Dolls's collection was mostly Medieval and Renaissance Works of Art that was sold by Christie's, New York after his death. In publicity for the sale, Christie's says that Doll bought from the best dealers looking for Royal provenance and rarity. He retreated to the Appalachian Mountains with his art in the 1970's where his collections remained mostly unknown until his death in 2020. Little is known about his collecting of Chinese art.
Condition
Craquelure to glazes with small flakes and iridescence, especially to greens.
