Description
Rare Chang Tribe Naga Warrior's Cloth Textile. Authentic, heavy cotton hand loomed, with cowrie shell circles and worn red dyed dog hair patches and small border weaving in front, and less usual blue stripes. Nagaland, early to mid 20th c. Such cloaks were worn by warriors of elite status who took more than six heads. The circles represent both heads and the moon, symbols of fertility. Size: 5' x 3'4'' (152 x 102 cm).
