Item Details
Description
Historical and personal artifact of Bob Fellers legacy. This appears to be made by a family member of his iconic 1940 season most likely by that of his mom and sister Marguerite. Why is this important? Why would Bob cherish it and hold onto it? He was the triple crown winner for pitchers! 1940 and 1941 were two of his best seasons! Notice the gorgeous George Burke photo that is pasted to one of the scrapbooks. The family made notations on it. Talk about a piece of histiry! All that is missing is some ticket stubs and autographs! Contains four albums of newspaper articles, clippings, photos envelops as shown and all contained in a 1930-40 era gentlemen's black travel brief case having ROBERT FELLER in gold stamp on the front as shown. Shows signs of use and wear, consistent with age, see photos. Bob was named 'The Greatest Pitcher' of his time for the Cleveland Indians and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1962. He played 18 seasons for the Indians, was an 8 time 'All Star' and ranked 36 out of 100 in the list of 100 of the Greatest Baseball Players in the 'Sporting News'. At the age of 23 he was the first American professional athlete to enlist in the military the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
