Description
The unsigned Gregorian reflecting brass telescope attributed to NAIRNE & BLUNT of London has a 2 5/8 inch diameter main tube with speculum metal mirrors, turned eye tube having screw-on solar filter, a long screw-focusing mechanism directly to the secondary mirror, insertable aperture flange and screw-on dust cover. The instrument is mounted to a brass column with angular adjustment all raised on tripod stand with folding cabriole legs .
Measures 18.5 x 18 x 8.5 inches.
Provenance: The estate of a collector active in Historical Re-enactment, Surveying the Frontier, Scientific Instruments. Lewis and Clark.
