A fine Pre-Civil War Ames Jenks Naval 54 caliber carbine, circa 1842. With a Mule-ear lock marked in three lines: N. P. AMES, SPRINGFIELD, MASS. The left end of lock tang is stamped: Wm JENKS. Approximately 4,250 were produced. Antique American Military Collectibles From The Pre-Civil War Period.
