Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built and highly-burnished pottery vessel with a concave circular foot, a bulbous saucer-shaped body, a gently-sloping shoulder, and a petite central rim with a flared lip. The surface is enveloped in vivid vermilion pigment, and scattered abraded areas reveal the natural buffware beneath. Size: 8" W x 4.5" H (20.3 cm x 11.4 cm).

Condition
A few stable hairline fissures stemming from lower shoulder to rim, small chips to rim, body, and base, with fading and chipping to red pigmentation, and encrustations within interior, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits throughout. Old inventory sticker beneath base.
