Description

A signed three-page Indenture on parchment (each sheet: 30” x 24”), dated July 31, 1818, documenting a secured loan of 1100 pounds by "Spinster" Elizabeth Hill to Henry Portlock. Beautifully transcribed text, with none of the corrections and inserts typically found in these documents. With numerous wax seals and stamps affirming the signatories and the proper payment of taxes. The condition of the text and vellum is exceptional for its age, with no smears, tears or issues; only the folds detract from its appearance, and they may be removed with proper conservation techniques.
