Description
Elvis Presley's Personally Owned and Worn Army Fatigue Shirt W/LOA From Patsy Presley - This fatigue Army shirt was personally owned and worn by Elvis Presley during his time serving in the United States Army. Elvis served from March 1958 to March 1960, and although he was given the chance to enlist in Special Services to entertain the troops and live in priority housing, Presley served as a regular soldier. This decision ultimately earned Elvis the respect of not only his fellow soldiers, but people back home who previously viewed him in a negative light due to his rock and roll music. After his training at Fort Hood, Elvis was assigned to a Battalion stationed in Friedberg, West Germany. He shipped out on September 22, 1958 and was stationed there until March 2, 1960. This shirt has Elvis' name and sleeve patches. Please see reference photos picturing Elvis wearing this shirt or a similar one. The shirt is accompanied with a letter of provenance from Elvis' double cousin (with whom he was very close), Patsy Presley, stating that the shirt was "one worn by Elvis during his stay in the army during 1958-1960."
