FORESTER, Cecil Scott (1899–1966). The African Queen. Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1935. 8vo. Original publisher’s green–stamped tan cloth embossed with a jungle leaf pattern. FIRST AMERICAN EDITION. The American and English editions of Forester’s novel have two different endings: in the English, the Royal Navy sinks the Konigin Luise and Rose and Allnut survive and marry, while in the American edition, they fail to sink the ship and the Allnut disappears beneath the waves.
