unable to remove cap, looks like it may be glued or otherwise secured, the cap has a central threaded element (possibly to mount a post for a lamp), viewing the rim from the inside it looks like there may be a through crack, but it's hard to see due to the mottled glass. Bottom pontil mark appears polished, there is no apparent seam to indicate it was molded so we feel it's probably a blown glass piece.
