Item Details
Description
"The Common Sense of Music" by Sigmund Spaeth, published by Garden City Publishing Co., 1924.

Hard boards, original publisher's cloth with black lettering on spine and front board [a little wear]; 5.1/2" x 8.1/2"; 375 pages including Glossary and List of Pieces, very good condition.

Written on the assumption that musically all men are created free, though not necessarily equal, and therefore tries to approach the subject of music in a common-sense fashion which will appeal to potential music-lovers.

Sigmund Gottfried Spaeth (1885-1965) was an American musicologist who traced the sources and origins of popular songs to their folk and classical roots. Presenting his findings through books, lectures, liner notes, newspapers, radio and television, he became known as The Tune Detective.
