Cartoonist Bob Kane Signed Drawing of Batman
1p, measuring 11" x 14", No place, Ca. 1990. A sketched bust of Batman signed by Batman creator, Bob Kane and inscribed, "Bats Wishes, Bob Kane Batman '90." The drawing is done in black felt tip. Minor bumping to the upper edges. Near fine with a bold signature. Green ink stain on verso.
Robert Kane (1915-1998) co-created DC Comics Batman together with animator Bill Finger in 1939. The character was influenced by the likes of Zorro, the 1930 film "The Bat Whispers", Leonardo da Vinci's diagram of the ornithopter, and Mary Rinehart's novel 'The Circular Staircase". Batman first debuted in Detective Comics #27 in May 1939 and was a breakout hit. Kane was inducted into the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1994 and added to the National Comics Awards' Roll of Honor in 1999.
