Providence, Rhode Island 1723 Superb Land Deed
1p, measuring 12.25" x 15", Providence, Rhode Island, dated November 25, 1723. An early colonial land deed for Providence, Rhode Island, between Samuel Kilton and Captain John Whipple. Kilton sells "one quarter part of a hill purchase right" for the sum of four pounds. The property had previously belonged to Thomas Hopkins, deceased. Signed "Samuel Kilton" at the conclusion, with witness signatures by Nathan Waterman and Richard Waterman. Richard Waterman actually signs the document three times, as Justice of the Peace and Town Clerk. With docketing on verso. The deed has flattened folds, with separations and a few small holes. Toning, foxing, and soiling throughout. Edge chipping. Boldly signed by all.
