Suzanne Curchod was a famous 18th-century French salonist, perhaps best known by her moniker Madame Necker. French author Comte de Haussonville wrote what has become the most substantial and accurate history of Curchod, her family and salons, and the surrounding French society. Haussonville describes the celebrated European figures who attended Neckers salons including the Grimms and Diderot.
This 1882 English edition of Haussonvilles “Salon of Madame Necker” is an absolutely beautiful two-volume set.
