Rare Antique Mayo Indian blanket Southern Sonora/northern Sinaloa, Last Quarter19th Century. It resembles an old Rio Grande blanket. The Mayo weavers were using indigo dyes as late as 1970. This item has lazy lines woven in the weave and is a characteristic of Mayo weavings. First Half 19th Century. Woven to emulate a Saltillo Serape with undyed wool and indigo on a wool foundation. This Blanket has been woven in one panel and is very soft to handle. Size: 148 cms x 97 cms (58ins x 38ins).
