Item Details
Description
Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, ca. 1550 to 1292 BCE; Third Intermediate Period, 21st to 25th Dynasty, ca. 1070 to 664 BCE; Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A wonderful selection of three ancient Egyptian artifacts formed from faience. First is a glazed New Kingdom scarab pendant with insectile features on the topside as well as the names of the goddess Mut and her son, Khensu of Thebes, on the base. From the Third Intermediate Period is a beautiful ushabti face replete with black brows, stunning eyes with elongated canthi, and a vertically fretted headdress, all presented in characteristic brilliant blue glaze. The mold-formed pendant of the dwarf deity Bes hails from the Late Dynastic Period, has a biconically drilled suspension hole through the projecting headdress, and is covered in faint layers of green glaze. Size of largest (ushabti face): 0.84" W x 1.18" H (2.1 cm x 3 cm)

Provenance: private Toronto, Ontario, Canada collection, by descent, acquired in Egypt in 1894 to 1896
