Item Details
Description
Here is a beautiful vintage 1966 Fender Duo-Sonic II guitar in great vintage condition. SERIAL NUMBER: 145972. COLOR: Sonic Blue Nitro Finish. WEIGHT: 7lbs 8.6ozs (3kg/420g). The Duo-Sonic II is a mid between to the Fender Musicmaster and Mustang guitars. This guitar has two pickups surpassing the Musicmaster which only has one, and yet it does not have a tremolo bridge as the Mustangs have. Guitar is 100% original, no modifications. Beautiful Sonic Blue Nitro finish. Lots of body checking. Yes, there is some finish chips, scratches, and dings just as any vintage guitar would have. What makes this guitar interesting is the Fender-Parker bodyguard that has been on this guitar its entire life, exceedingly rare. Here you can see what the original nitro finish looked like on the body underside when the guitar was manufactured. And then you can see the topside of the body as it looks today, really cool. Matching pot codes stamped 304 6618, denoting the Stackpole Co. dated the 18th week of 1966. Pickups have excellent readings; the neck is approximately 5.75k and the bridge is 5.62k. The neck pickup has a written date of 7-27-66. All electronic cavities have brass shielding. The neck is in beautiful condition with only a couple marks here and there, mentioned for clarity. Unbelievable checking on both sides of the headstock and down by the butt. Neck has a 7.25 radius, slim C shape profile, very straight with no issues. Decal is above the finish and in excellent condition. Neck has a butt stamp reading 16JUL66B, denoting the model type being 16, the month and year JUL66, and B being the width of the neck at the nut which is 1 5/8 inch. Tuners are Double Line Klusons, the plastic buttons are in great shape and in perfect working order. This guitar plays beautifully, nice tones and great action. This Duo-Sonic comes with its original case in good vintage condition. Guitar would make an excellent addition to any collection, shop, or home.
