Seiferheld Gallery Inc, 158 East 64 Street, New York City numbered A1694 and comes with description of drawing. Second label on verso includes brief summary of Jean Baptiste Claude Chatelain. Behind backing on verso, another Seiferheld Gallery label was found. On verso of chalk drawing, in pencil, it reads "For sole collection of A Pugh-Thomas with letters and numbers also written in pencil on the top right verso corner. Provenance of this piece of art is Pugh-Thomas and may of been written by him. On inside of wood frame, other pencil writings were noticed. Jean Baptiste Claude Chatelain was originally a solder but left the military to become a very successful artist. Chatelain (also known as Phillipe, is known particularly for his drawings but was also a well established engraver. While Jean worked for John Boydell, a print seller and engraver, Chatelain did his famous 50 views in Around London. Drawing measures 159 mm wide by 219 mm high.
