A hand-painted Japanese satsuma teapot from the early 1960s with chrysanthemum designs and gilded accents.The molded ceramic teapot with matching lid has been glazed with a fine cream crackle glaze. Over glaze enamels have been used to decorate the teapot and lid with a chrysanthemum design. The edges, lid, handle and spout have been painted with gilding. The lid has a chrysanthemum like finial and has a vent hole to let steam escape. The rim inside the lid, the teapot mouth flange, and raised foot are not glazed. The base is glazed.There is the company mark in Japanese on the base in red enamel.MEASUREMENTS5 ¾” (14.6 cm) long x 3 ¼” (8.3 cm) wide x 3 ¼” (8.3 cm) tall. Weighs 11.2 oz (320g)CONDITIONThere are no breaks, cracks, chips, or repairs. There is wear to the gilding. The enamels are still bright and intact.A hands on teapot to add to a satsuma collection.
