Description
East Asia, China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. A wonderful pottery jar presenting a narrow, circular base and thick walls that rise to a rounded shoulder, a brief, cylindrical neck, and an annular rim, all enveloped in a rich gray glaze. The shoulder is adorned by a series of horizontal ridges that nicely complement the vessel's elegant form, while the dish charmingly leans to one side, making it an even more unique example from the Ming Dynasty! Note the rich marine encrustations to the exterior and the white seashells on the interior: lovely souvenirs from centuries spent on the ocean floor! Size: 4.8" Diameter x 7.9" H (12.2 cm x 20.1 cm)
