Cecil B. deMille (1881-1959) Filmmaker. DeMille was a founder of the Hollywood motion-picture industry, one of the most commercially successful producer-directors of his time, and one of the most influential filmmakers in history. His films were distinguished by their epic scale and by his cinematic showmanship. His silent films were more diverse in genre, among which included social dramas, comedies, Westerns, farces, morality plays, and historical pageants. 8 ½” x 11” legal agreement signed, June 12, 1939, 1939. The agreement, which is with Paramount Pictures is for the filming of “…the third motion picture photoplay to be produced by you….”. Included is a carbon copy cover note and two 5 ½” x 4 ¼” “Notice of Employment” and “Closing Notice” forms. deMille was paid $3,000 per week.
