Native American, North America, Pacific Northwest Coast, Haida or Tlingit, ca. late 19th century CE. An interesting, hand-sculpted ungulate bone carving of abstract anthropomorphic and zoomorphic figures. Presenting a convex face, the fascinating sculpture displays the form of a large animalistic head shown in profile facing left with a sizeable eye, a round nose, and full lips held open to show a petite figure protruding from its mouth. A pair of seated figures follows the giant head, one resembling a human and the other with an avian head, anthropomorphic limbs, and a torso formed from a sideways human head. Size: 3.1" L x 2.5" W (7.9 cm x 6.4 cm)
