Description
Ancient Near East, Sassanian (Sasanian or Sasanid) Empire, ca. 5th century CE. A wonderful pair of bronze spoons, each presenting an ovoid bowl and a lengthy, slender stem. Though very similar, the slightly larger spoon features a bulging handle and pointed tip, while the other exhibits a rounded tip. Both stems are decoratively incised: the larger with striated and circular motifs and the smaller with diagonal lines. Size (in diameter): 9.5" L x 3" W (24.1 cm x 7.6 cm)
