This beautiful two tone slip decoration bulbous pitcher was likely turned in Alamance Co. First came to market 5 years ago at Crockerfarm Auction, new to market then, found in Ohio. Also coggled wheel decoration to shoulder of 10-12 lines horizontally pops out when the pitcher is observed. Interestingly, the tulip motif is once again employed as we can see in the prior lot (although a completely different level of artistry). Yellow ochre & maganese slips applied in a trail decoration that has the flower coming forth from a lower basket. There are both floral aspects, but also what appears to be opening up or growing fernlike decoration as it unfurls. In addition, all other outer surfaces have copious levels of vertical waved decoration at this lower level. Above this on the next pitcher level is a pattern with slip trail dots that are mixed with these quarter moons of slip, again with the two main ochre & maganese colors. Above the coggled surface level, there are additional levels of fantastic intentional balanced slip decoration. Stands 10.5" by 8.5".

Distinct wear to the slip decoration and clear lead glaze. There are several chips, including 1 3/4" rim chip, two far smaller rim chips, and a spout chip. Definite wear to the handle and some to the inside. There is a good-sized glaze flake to bottom inside surfece.
