Rare and important ca. 1858-1862 Geo. W. Gregor & Co. New Orleans, Louisiana antebellum silver presentation pitcher inscribed "From George Mason Graham...To His Friend...Rebecca Rich Kelso", George Mason Graham (1807-1891) was a "lawyer, planter and educator" sometimes referred to as 'The Father of Louisiana State University as chairman of first board of trustees of Louisiana State Seminary of Learning, LSU's institutional forerunner. Rebecca Rich (Kelso) Diffenderfer (b. 1826) was the daughter of Baltimore, MD/ Rapides Parish, LA plantation owner George Y. Kelso. Hand engraved shield crests bearing inscriptions and gadrooned rim. 7.75" x 8.5" 25.2 troy oz.
