Central Asia, India, ca. early to mid 20th century CE. A gorgeous necklace comprised of 50 aventurine beads - each one hand-cut, hand-drilled, and hand-polished - arranged along a strand with silver beads from the 20th century. The shapes range from spherical to tubular and barrel shapes. The green hues also display some lighter white and creamy inclusions. The modern silver beads feature engraved floral designs and nicely accent the green hues of the stone. All is strung in modern times with a S-hook clasp as a wearable piece. Size of necklace: 28" L (71.1 cm); larger beads: 0.3" L x 0.5" W (0.8 cm x 1.3 cm)

Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s

The aventurine beads are very good. All is strung in modern times on a cord and is wearable. Minor abrasions to some stone beads, but nice retention of green color and surface smoothness.
