A Spanish Colonial Carved and Painted Wood Crucifix
together with a display case and carved wood pedestal.
Height of crucifix 25 3/4 x width 15 x depth 6 inches.
Purportedly hung St. Augustine Church in Isleta Pueblo, New Mexico from the time it was built. Anton Docher (1852-1928), a Franciscan priest and missionary, gifted the crucifix to St. Rose Alexius Broderick in 1925. Docher was priest at St. Augustine from 1891 until his death and oversaw the remodeling of the church in 1923.
