Sakakawea w/ Son Sculpture.
Sakakawea (Shoshone Indian Tribe, 1812-1884)
Possibly created by the sculptor Leonard Crunelle.
Original plaster mold prototype used by the Roman Bronze Works Foundry to cast the bronze sculpture of Sacagawea and her son Baptiste.
*Sakakawea was the guide for the Lewis and Clark expedition.
Approximate dimensions: H: 16 1/2 in., W: 5 1/4 in., D: 5 1/8 in.
Condition: good original estate condition.
Provenance: private estate, originally cast at The Bronze Work Foundry, New York.

The National American Woman Suffrage Association adopted her as a symbol of worth and independence.
