Exceptional grouping of a WWII Imperial Japanese M1883 Naval dirk, and Naval officer's sword. Sword bears a 26 inch narrow fullered blade, with gilded hilt and scabbard fittings adorned with Imperial cherry blossoms, and wire wrapped white shagreen grip. Scabbard is leather, with brass throat, ring band, and chape. Naval mark on hilt, with kanji character, both located just under quillon hook. Some loss to gilded finish on fittings, but otherwise very good condition. Model 1883 Officer's Dirk bears 8 inch narrow fuller blade, brass fittings, and white wire wrapped shagreen grip, with brass cherry blossoms on either side, and one on pommel. Scabbard is shark skin over wood, with brass throat and chape, bearing relief cherry blossoms over floral engraving. Blade shows very mild wear, mostly from scabbard. Grip is excellent, fittings are tight, and button release works perfectly. Scabbard is excellent. Overall excellent condition. Items together present excellent examples of Imperial Japanese Naval dress weaponry.
