Description
Octahedrite meteorite identified as a chemical group IIIAB showing the characteristic outer surface. Sawn half with domed and polished end but not etched to show internal structure. 233 grams, 60 mm. (2 1/2"). Ex Douglas Rose collection; ex David Baker collection (with ticket); from the Henbury Fall, Northern Territory, Australia, 1931. The Henbury Iron Meteorites and crater field were discovered in 1931, with approximately thirteen craters created by the impacting Henbury pieces. These meteorites are often beautifully twisted and torn by the impact, creating very sculptural forms and meteorites from this fall are some of the most sought after specimens for collections.[No Reserve]
