A skull-faced Egyptian priestess with pointy metal breastplates uses her deathly sex appeal to both enchant and repel readers, a redux of the cover to Voodoo #8, April 1953. By the time this mag hit Mexican newsstands in early 1957, pre-Code horror had been dead and buried for two years in the United States. Until the dawning Silver Age matured with the Marvel revolution, American readers were stuck with watered-down kidstuff like Archie, Casper and Porky Pig, but in Mexico, horror comics were a hot commodity. Thus, in a curious twist to the pre-Code horror saga, the ghosts of defunct Yankee horror mags haunted Mexico in a strange and wonderful sort of afterlife.
