"Il primo tomo contiene il trattato dell'aritmetica; il secondo il trattato dell'algebra; il terzo la geometria piana e solida con applicazioni all'agrimensura, la trigonometria piana e sferica, oltre le tavole logaritmiche; il quarto la geometria analitica e le sezioni coniche; il quinto, il sesto e il settimo, il calcolo differenziale e integrale... Noi ci limitiamo a segnalare il giudizio datone dal sommo Lagrangia nella lettera diretta all'autore Bibl. Modenese, ed inserita nel tomo VII... nel quale non dubita di dichiararla il corso più compito di matematiche tra quanti sino allora erano stati pubblicati" (Riccardi, I/col. 594). Sul padre domenicano Odoardo Gherli (1730-80), modenese, cfr. Tiraboschi, , II/p. 393-4 (ricorda che Domenico Pollera, allievo del Gherli, morì a soli 26 anni nel 1777, appena uscito l'ultimo volume dell'opera): "Il più ampio, e il più pieno, corso di Matematica, che si fosse ancora veduto".

Work of great commitment and breadth, not easy to find complete, having appeared over a few years. "The first tome contains the treaty of arithmetic, the second the treaty of algebra, the third the flat and solid geometry with applications to the surveying, the flat and spherical trigonometry, the logarithmic tables, the fourth the analytic geometry and the conic sections, the fifth, the sixth and the seventh, the differential and integral calculus ... We limit ourselves to point out the judgment given by the high Lagrangia in the letter directed to the author Bibl Modenese, and inserted in the volume VII ... which does not doubt to declare it the most mathematical task among those who until then had been published "(Riccardi, I / col. 594). On the Dominican father Odoardo Gherli (1730-80), Modenese, cf.
