Description
A shallow, relief carved English oak box, filled with numerous sterling or partial sterling desk accessories or early table material. Includes a full dressing set engraved for "Pollie", with brushes having sterling wraps, cut glass containers, again sterling covers, as well as numerous other utensils, most sterling but some plated, a few marked for Gorham, another pair of tongs Kirk & Sons.
Box measures 25" x 17" at top.
From the estate and lifelong collection of William Garrett Hodges (1946-2014). Hodges was a Virginia-based dealer of fine arts, with specialization in prints and rare books, having collected for decades. He supplied and consulted various groups on antiquities throughout his career, including the White House, the Vice President's residence, the FBI, and multiple film and television series.
