41 posters and broadsides in varying sizes. Most on cardstock or paper, some on silk. Many tipped into folders or on mounts with labels from George B. Smith's Biblioteca Taurina.
The Biblioteca Taurina poster and broadside collection spans nearly a century of the bullfight with examples from Spain and Mexico. "George B. Smith, was a Los Angeles schoolteacher. He took collecting bullfighting material so seriously that James Michener, writing in his novel Iberia, noted that the collection Smith amassed was 'what many call the finest library of its kind in the United States.' - Los Angeles Times, Sept. 22, 2005. Most of the Biblioteca Taurina (1,700 volumes) was donated to Los Angeles' Central Library where it comprises nearly one tenth of the special collections department.
